Busy week

Wow… okay… trying to get a handle on life. Things have been a little crazy so I didn’t get as far as I planned. Etsy isn’t live yet, but will be this week. I’m just trying to figure out Paypal and my Store Policies. This stuff is more involved than just making something and posting it, you know? Although, I can see that once I get the groundwork laid, it will be mostly creativity with minimal adjustments to the infrastructure. That makes me happy.
The family is good – busy week with them. I feel like I’m in support mode big time. Not that they can’t manage on their own just fine, but it’s also great to be available for the different needs/wants of my family. Garret is working his tail off to provide and protect, Amalie’s working her tail off to grow and become more independent, and the Curtises are working their tails off to become a family unit and remain part of a couple of family units at the same time. Everyone has their work cut out for them! I may be getting close to “empty-nest” status, but there’s still plenty to do.
I’ve been reading a lot in Alma right now and it seems everywhere I turn there is a lesson or instruction for me. Alma 34 just blew me away this time! I ended up spending several days dissecting messages in there for people who know what they’re suppose to do, they’ve been taught, but, for one reason or another – maybe their own fault, maybe life itself – they haven’t gotten around to following the “counsel” just right. Is there hope? Are they just lost? But no! Faith, patience, repentance, diligence and you’re back on the right track. It even says that sincere practice of these concepts brings about mercy in the face of justice. As long as you’re here, there’s always another chance!! That’s really good news for people like me.
Then today I was reading in Alma 43 and it’s all about being prepared. I started underlining ever time the word “prepared” or one of it’s forms shows up. I didn’t get all the way through the chapter yet, but there’s a lot. And, basically, it’s the old message of, “If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear”. But I also found a formula for being prepared: Plan, Prepare, Fear Not. We could apply this to so many aspects of our lives. Plan (your finances, your schedule, your study course), Prepare (do all that you can to put your life in order for the goals to happen – include others when appropriate), Fear Not (work steadily toward the goal, don’t run faster than you have strength, trust in the Lord and His Plan). Easy – theoretically!
So I’m working on being calm and trusting the Lord. I need to check over my life and make sure each of my stewardships has the attention it needs at this time. Then, I’ll just take a deep breath and trust… and work REALLY hard not to fear!!
