My next big learning curve is, I believe, going to be in the “Business Management” department. Trying to determine what to make, how many to make, what sells, how much to charge, how often to post, how to keep my store fresh… It makes me a little weak but it’s really just energizing! I love making new things and am not so crazy about coming up with the advertising. But it’s a thrill to see my stuff in my store and a little disconcerting waiting for it to sell. But I’m learning so much about myself and what I love and I realize my store is not about trying to sell anything.
It’s actually more about self-discovery. Coming to realize who I am, who I want to be, what energizes me and what brings me satisfaction. What am I passionate about? I really enjoy making all the items I make. They’re sort of like little children that I don’t necessarily mind letting go. If someone loves them as much as I do, I want to share. Like anyone, I worry a little that others won’t like my things. Or that I will be thought a fool for even posting things. But it’s just so darn fun, I can’t help myself!
