Heartistic Desires

Homemaking is an Art of the Heart and Soul.

Simple Blessings

It’s the little things that make life so worth it. Every now and then a big thing comes along and that makes it even more worth while; but day-to-day those small moments are what get me out of bed.

Nikaela has been coming over frequently this week to re-finish some furniture. Her condo-conversion doesn’t have quite the room our single-family home does for such a project. I cannot imagine a better day than being with my family. Each one of themĀ brings a unique joy into my life that only that Treasure can provide.

Yesterday, when Nikaela was here, our sweet Bela took a little nap and when she woke up she was HUNGRY! She’s really, really, really cute about food. Kind of like her Mom. She likes food, she likes it now and she has a bit of a gourmet taste – no cheesy baby food for this 10 month old! Anyway, after chowing some lunch, she started in on her sumptuous bottle. Well, I must assume these are sumptuous. They don’t smell that great, but that girl gets SO excited and grabs at the bottle and starts sucking her thumb the second she sees it and then she moans with pleasure the entire time she is drinking.

It is quite the sight.

And sound.

And that was what I noticed. I was working on a quilting project and I could hear that Little Thing moaning and slurping and I could hear the bottle draining. I couldn’t help it – I giggled. Nikaela asked me what I was giggling about, and I told her the sounds of Bela enjoying her lunch. “Oh,” she said, “It’s kind of sad that I don’t even hear it anymore.”

One of the joys of being a Grandma.
