WebCam Love

So this morning I have been missing my grandchildren. What a delightful thing grandchildren are! There is an emotion and level of feeling that come into your life when you have children that just cannot be described; it is the same with grandchildren. Suddenly life has more meaning, each moment matters, and you realize that there is no reason – whatsoever – for any child on the face of the earth to cry – ever!
Garret and I became grandparents at a rather young age (early 40′s) when our sweet grandson, Gideon, was born. I love my daughters in a way that I cannot describe. Every moment being their mother has been precious to me. I had plans for a good-sized family. When that didn’t materialize I realized that I may have only had two children, but God, in His mercy, gave me two of His very best.
Being a mother has been every fairy tale come true for me: Fixing breakfast in the morning; driving them to and from school (great talk – and listen – time); going to school functions and meetings (loved parent-teacher conferences, it meant I was a mother); having them home for the summer; putting them to bed at night with a bath, snack, book, prayers and song…
Every moment was precious. Every moment is quality time.
And once they got older and started having families it was BBQ’s in the backyard, Sunday dinners, playing at the park on Monday nights, meeting for a movie.
All precious time.
And then Garret and I moved 700 miles away and I realized just how precious.
So, we got a webcam that I am in love with. It’s not a high dollar one and it isn’t always reliable but pretty much anytime I want I can “sit and talk” with my kids, grandkids, parents. It’s so lovely! Today I read two books to my Grandson. Two books that I used to read to my girls; “Tess and Tim” and “I Want to Be”. And then we had show and tell. This is where we spend a bunch of time figuring out things to show each other through the camera. I know I’ve done good if Gideon laughs hysterically at what I hold up. What about Bela? Oh, she’s there. She’s usually running around in the background or standing on the desk.
One of their favorite things to do is stand on the desk right in front of the camera. It absolutely cracks me up, which may be why they do it. I’m not sure, but I can tell you that it’s hard to feel like my day is complete unless I’ve seen this,

at least once.
Have a great day!
Heartistcially Yours

Very good essay. I love the feeling of it and the thoughts. I have fond memories of when you three were young and how I loved doing things with you. I loved the family time. You DO have two of the most precious spirits in all history! …next to mine!
loveyou
