The Pumpkin Patch I Carry With Me

On traditions, distance, and finding home in our journals.

In the small Utah town where my daughter lives, autumn still feels like something out of a storybook. There are real pick-your-own pumpkin patches, winding corn mazes, and fall festivals that bring the whole community together. It’s the kind of season that smells like crisp air, hay bales, and hot cider.

This year, I won’t be there to walk those rows with her and her family, and I feel that tug of nostalgia in my heart. I find myself wishing I could soak in those moments – the laughter, finding just the right pumpkin, the joy of a small-town harvest celebration.

When I can’t be there in person, my journal becomes the place I hold onto those memories. Writing down the images, the feelings, and the stories keeps me close, even across the miles. Journaling is how I remind myself that connection doesn’t depend only on presence—it can also live in the way we notice, record, and honor our traditions.

Rituals of Connection

Maybe you have your own family rituals—pumpkin patches, baking days, or cozy evenings at home. Those moments that connect you with others in all the best, if most quiet, ways. I’d encourage you to capture those little details in your journal. They may feel small, but one day they’ll be the treasures you return to again and again.

That’s why I created the Pumpkin Patch sticker set. For me, it’s a way to carry a piece of that harvest tradition into my pages, even when I can’t be there in person. My hope is that it brings a touch of warmth and nostalgia into your own journaling and planning, helping you remember the beauty of the season you’re in.

Even if we’re not standing in the same field, love and tradition keep us close. 🍂
